I attended several Community Colleges as working as a Chef. Received my Associates of Arts in Communications at Hillsborough Community College. Your athletic background (did you play competitive sports, college sports; your certifications – including what CrossFit certs you have: I've played sports since I was 3 years old. Soccer, baseball and football during my middle and high school days. Some basketball, golf, and volleyball. CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) (2008); CrossFit Level 2 Trainer (CF-L2) (2013); Kettlebell Certificate (2010); Football Certificate (2010); Gymnastics Certificate (2012); Mobility Certificate (2012); Powerlifting Certificate (2012); Endurance Trainer (2013); Weightlifting Certificate (2013); USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (2014); ISSA Certified Personal Trainer; Judges Certificate (2018). How did you find CrossFit? - A friend at the time told me about it back in 2007. So, I did "FRAN" for my first WOD. It happened to be the Workout of the Day on CrossFit's main page. It took me 14:27 to complete and it kicked my A$$. It humbled me 11 years ago because I though I was in shape before doing it. Let's just say that I had much to learn. And haven't stopped learning ever since. Now, it's well below 3 minutes. Which is why I love teaching and helping others move more efficiently and get results. The primary movement that I love is the Front Squat, Handstand Walk, Thruster & I hate running and burpees. But they are a necessary in a healthy fitness program. CrossFit Level 1. How did you find CrossFit? - Two separate couples that we are good friends with kept telling us about CrossFit and how we should try it. We kept blowing them off. Finally, a Groupon came out and we said "what the heck, we'll try it for a month and then go back to LA Fitness". Well, here we are 6 and a half years later, we're still addicted to CrossFit, and haven't been back to LA Fitness! While deployed in Afghanistan, I noticed this group doing some intense workout with a lot of different and cool movements like muscle ups, handstand walks and all while moving some heavy weights. I was sold! Favorite CrossFit move (could be Oly lift, other lift, cardio move, even burpees (if you really love). Although not my best lift, I would say my favorite lift is the snatch. Not only must you be strong, but your technique must be solid. Trusting the process and feeling that point in which you know you got it. I also have my CrossFit Level 1 certification. How did you find CrossFit? - I took a cross training class at the gym. The coach of that class was an avid crossfitter. He suggested I try CrossFit. When I moved to San Diego I decided to switch to CrossFit from a traditional gym. I fell in love with it and have not stopped since then. Favorite CrossFit move (could be Oly lift, other lift, cardio move, even burpees (if you really love them!): My favorite CrossFit movement would be the squat snatch. I like how technical the lift is and how it constantly needing refinement. CrossFit athlete you would most like to WOD with (and for what reason): I would like to WOD with Noah Ohlsen. I have worked in every environment with acute care being my favorite. I am currently in Home Health. I was a lifeguard as one of my first employments. I currently hold my L1 Crossfit Trainer. How did you find CrossFit? I was encouraged to join by another coach, Damion. Black belt third degree by IBJJF, Checkmat BJJ Team Professor. Physical Education Professor graduated from the Brazilian University PUC Campinas. I have been training and competing in Jiu-jitsu for over 23 years. Brazilian national champion, American national champion, Pan Ams champion and World champion in jiu-jitsu. I taught in Brazil for 16 years. In 2016 I moved to the USA, California, training frequently at Checkmat HQ, and in 2017 I moved to Minnesota, where remained as a professor for 3 ½ years. Now in Florida, I'm very excited for a new challenge, teaching at Checkmat Riverview BJJ.
